Well, girls, I wandered into a nearby grocery store today and made an amazing discovery -- South Africans have the same kind of food in their stores as we do! I know it's startling and perhaps obvious, but it was a bit of an enlightening experience. One aisle had rows and rows of fresh bread; in another, there was vacuum-packed seafood; on the end, there was pop and other drinks in wall-unit refrigerators. Two differences struck me: The store was much smaller than the auditoriums that house our supplies, and everyone who was shopping was white and everyone who was working there was black.
So I'm not sure if what I saw is considered progress or not.
