Well, I finally got a chance to experience authentic local culture, girls. Yesterday I went to a part of Johannesburg called Newtown. A viewing party was being set up, so my colleagues and I walked around, enjoying the sunshine and warm temperatures, touching the local crafts at the market. (Don't tell your mom that I bought her something.) And at lunch, I ate a fried mopane worm, a local delicacy, covered with a spicy sauce. You don't if you'll like something unless you try it, right? The worm was thick, crunchy and surprisingly good. (It's the little fellow on the other side of this card.) I liked it, but I don't think I'd eat a plateful. One of my colleagues didn't care for it; he's still complaining about tasting the worm. If you were older, I'd finish this note with a joke about tequila, a naughty grown-up drink.
Anyway, give your mom a hug for me.
