FA member voices support for Capello
Sir Dave Richard's closest ally on the FA board, Phil Gartside, has come out in support of under-fire England manager Fabio Capello.
Sir Dave will decide over the next two weeks whether to sack Capello following a hugely disappointing World Cup for the Three Lions, but Gartside expects the Italian to stay.
Gartside told the BBC that he has spoken to two other members of the FA's 11-man board, and they too are backing Capello.
"It's not his fault. He's done a good job, he needs to get on with it," Gartside said. "I hope he stays and I think he will stay. It's not about the money. We have to be strong. It's not the fans who have an issue, it's the press."
The FA board is scheduled to meet on July 15, and that is the reason why the FA told Capello that he would have to wait two weeks for a final decision. Sir Dave, although chairman of Club England and chairman of the International Committee, could not have rubber-stamped any decision in isolation and has to consult with his full FA executive board.
