Otto Rehhagel's nine-year reign with the Greece national side has come to an end after it was confirmed he has resigned following the country's elimination from the World Cup.
Greece saw their participation in the finals in South Africa ended by a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Argentina on Tuesday and Rehhagel did not travel back to Greece with the squad.
Officials at the Greek Football Association have confirmed that Rehhagel, 71, has relinquished his position. The coach's contract was due to expire at the end of June.
Rehhagel was appointed Greece coach in 2001 and was the mastermind of the country's unexpected triumph at Euro 2004.
Reports in Greece claim that former PAOK coach Fernando Santos will be his replacement.
