Slovenia 2, United States 2
The United States came back to draw Slovenia after surrendering two first-half goals, the first time in World Cup history that the United States earned a draw after being down two goals.
• The United States surrendered the opening goal of the match for the 19th time in its 27 World Cup matches. The U.S. is now 0-15-4 when it falls behind 1-0 at the World Cup.
• Down two goals at the half, the United States responded with seven touches in the box in the second while holding Slovenia to four and scoring the two goals needed for a point. The U.S. also had five shots on goal in the second half while limiting Slovenia to just two. It marked only the third time since the stat was first tracked in 1966 that the U.S. scored two goals in the box in a single World Cup game.
• Slovenia attempted 25 crosses from open play, tied for fourth-highest single match total at this year's World Cup. However, Slovenia's 12.0 percent accuracy on those crosses was well below the average of this year's World Cup, which is 19.1 percent.
• The United States overall had better passing than it did against England in the group stage opener, but Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey, who played on the left and right side of the midfield respectively, combined for 67.4 percent passing accuracy. They combined for 83.4 percent passing accuracy against England.
