Falkirk came from behind to beat Ayr 2-1 in extra time in the Ramsdens Cup second round.
The two sides exchanged chances early on, with Craig Malcolm shooting just wide for the hosts and Olumide Durojaiye testing Ayr goalkeeper David Hutton with a low drive.
It was Malcolm who opened the scoring four minutes before the break. The striker's turn and shot beat Michael McGovern and left the home fans sensing an upset.
Rory Loy scored twice at the weekend and he got Falkirk back into the tie after 63 minutes, tapping home after Jay Fulton's shot was parried by Hutton.
Substitute Scott Shepherd booked the Bairns' place in the next round with a glancing header nine minutes from the end of extra-time.
