Stenhousemuir beat Arbroath 3-2 on penalties in the Ramsdens Cup first round after playing out an entertaining 4-4 draw at Ochilview Park.
First-half goals from Robert Linn and David Banjo sandwiched in between a Sean Higgins strike ensured the visitors lead 2-1 at the break.
However, Stenhousemuir's John Gemmell poked home Darren Smith's goalbound effort on 67 minutes to send the game into extra time.
With entertainment not in short supply Arbroath regained the lead through a Steven Milne goal only to be pegged back by an Errol Douglas header before Nicky Devlin saw red for the hosts.
The Warriors thought they had won it when Gemmel grabbed his second from the spot but Ross Chisholm to sent the game to penalties with a strike at the death.
Arbroath proved wasteful from 12 yards and it was Lee Sibanda's miss that gifted Stenhousemuir a place in the next round.
