Elgin stitched-up by Taylor
Lyle Taylor sealed victory for Falkirk as two second-half goals gave the Bairns a 2-0 win over Third Division Elgin in the first round of the Scottish Communities League Cup.
Striker Taylor struck a minute from time after Stephen Kingsley had broken the deadlock at the Falkirk Stadium.
In a first half of few clear-cut chances Bairns goalkeeper Michael McGovern saved comfortably from Brian Cameron and David Moore, while midfielder Jay Fulton tested Elgin goalkeeper John Gibson with right-footed drive that was tipped over.
Defender Kingsley slotted into the bottom left-hand corner 23 minutes from time to give the home side the lead after being set up by substitute Blair Alston.
From then on it was all Falkirk and Taylor volleyed Craig Sibbald's cross into the top right corner from six yards to ensure a safe passage into the second round for Steven Pressley's men.
