Queen's Park will have former East Fife goalkeeper Michael Brown between the sticks when they host Ayr in the Ramsdens Cup.
The 33-year-old is set to make his Spiders debut after joining the club on Thursday.
Head coach Gardner Speirs rebuilt his Hampden squad after 11 departures during the summer and fellow new recruits Shaun Rooney and Joao Victoria are also in line to make their bows in midfield and up front respectively.
Speirs said: ``We have a different and not yet complete squad from last season but we are excited about the season ahead and in meeting Ayr in the first game.
``They will be a tough challenge as they have an experienced squad, but we will be out to cause an upset.``
Ayr manager Mark Roberts, who has a full squad to choose from, is also looking for his re-shaped squad to start the season with a bang.
He said: ``Queen's Park will no doubt be a very fit side who pass the ball well but I would like our guys to show the hunger they have shown in pre-season.
``I believe that we have a better mix of youth and experience at the club now and I want them to show that in this game.``
