Stevenson blow for Blue Brazil

Cowdenbeath will miss the goal threat of Jamie Stevenson in their Ramdens Cup Fife Derby with Dunfermline after his sending off in a pre-season friendly.

Blue Brazil boss Colin Cameron brought former Rangers striker Kane Hemmings back to the club on Thursday evening after a successful loan spell last season and he joins fellow new recruits Nat Wedderburn, Jordan Morton and Andy Russell in his squad to face the Pars.

Cameron said: "This is afantastic game to open the season as our games with Dunfermline always have a bit of spice attached to them. It will be a tough tie to win but we have looked good in pre-season."

Dunfermline miss the suspended Stephen Husband, however their squad should be boosted by the return of Andy Geggan and Ryan Wallace after injury.

Alan Smith remains out with a leg knock, with Jefferies hoping to have completed a loan deal ahead of kick-off.

Jefferies said: "We started our league season last year with a 4-0 win at Central Park and it would be great to do something like that again.

"Unfortunately the financial situation at the club means that we are a very different side now however a win in this game would be a great boost for this campaign."
