FC Augsburg v Borussia Monchengladbach: Preview

Borussia Monchengladbach coach Lucien Favre will be make another change to his side when they travel to Augsburg on Friday night.

The Foals' coach had been able to pick a settled team for the first five games of the season before losing Filip Daems prior to last weekend's win against Eintracht Braunschweig.

Now he also needs to replace midfielder Granit Xhaka, who picked up his fifth yellow card in six games a week ago.

``Granit is sometimes a bit clumsy in the challenge and he wants to win the ball back too quickly at times,'' Favre told his club's website.

``Therefore, he commits unnecessary fouls, but he is still young and plays in a position of responsibility and we'll correct that bit by bit.''

Havard Nordtveit will take his place, starting a game for the first time after scoring as a substitute against Braunschweig.

``He started pre-season training later than the rest and Granit Xhaka and Christoph Kramer have been doing a good job, which is why he has been out up to now,'' the Swiss coach added.

``It's not easy for any side to play there (Augsburg). Augsburg are extremely well organised, very athletic and incredibly strong in the tackle.

``It's no coincidence that they've already got nine points this season.''

That is the same tally as Gladbach, who are looking to add three more to it on Friday.

``We're not just going to pack our defence,'' Favre said. ``We've got to be quicker on the break and defend better.''

They will have to deal with Sascha Molders, who opened his account for the season in Augsburg's midweek DFB-Pokal win over Munster and will now be hoping to break his duck in the Bundesliga.

``A striker always wants to score goals, that's only normal,'' he said. ``I've not scored for a long time and I've missed several gilt-edged chances so of course it's great that I've now scored again.

``Now we meet a side who have had a one-week break and they have a lot of quality in their attack.''
