Hertha Berlin v Borussia Monchengladbach: Preview

There will be reunions aplenty on Saturday when Borussia Monchengladbach visit Hertha Berlin.

Berlin are currently coached by Jos Luhukay, the man who led Monchengladbach into the top flight in 2008.

Gladbach's current coach Lucien Favre forged a strong reputation in the capital when he guided Hertha to the brink of the Champions League, and close to winning the title in 2010.

Both lost their jobs in the subsequent season to their successful showing, but are revered by fans of their former clubs.

``Never has Lucien Favre been as popular as he is now,'' titled the Berliner Morgenpost newspaper ahead of Favre's return to the capital.

``They were two and a half exciting years,'' recalled the Swiss. ``But it's no longer so strange for me to return to Berlin, like it was two years ago.

``A long time has now passed.''

Even longer has passed since Luhukay left the Foals, although the memories still accompany the Dutchman.

``I had a great time in Monchengladbach,'' he told the Aachener Zeitung. ``I returned to the Borussia Park for the first time in five years to see them against Dortmund and it was incredible how the people reacted.

``People were greeting me and asking for autographs in the car park. Clearly they have not forgotten me.''

The game is also a meeting of two brothers with Berlin's Ronny facing Gladbach's Raffael.

``It's the first time I will play against Ronny in the Bundesliga,'' said Raffael, who previously played for Berlin, on www.herthabsc.de.

``We played against each other a lot as kids, but not since then. I'm usually in contact with him a lot and we call to wish each other luck before games, but I think the next time we speak will be after the game.''
