Lille coach Rene Girard is wary ahead of the trip to Reims as he believes meeting such teams early in the season is often more tricky than facing sides who usually inhabit the top of the table.
Girard predicts another campaign of toil for Reims - they finished five points above the relegation zone last season - and he believes that ingrains a certain mentality in players.
``Playing teams like Reims, it is always a bit tricky,'' he told the club's website losc.fr.
``There is nothing derogatory but early in the season these teams know they will be between 10th and 20th place at the end of the year so they must start strong in order to get themselves to safety.
``We must therefore be very vigilant. We know that a decent run in the league will be helped through good management of these games.
``We must avoid the trap of taking this game lightly.''
Lille won their opening game against Lorient but Reims lost 2-1 at Rennes and coach Hubert Fournier believes they have to learn lessons from that reverse.
``We lacked realism at both ends. When we had the opportunity there was not enough killer instinct in front of goal,'' he told L'Union.
``We also defended poorly. The two goals we conceded we were too passive.
``With hindsight, I think that Rennes were beatable but you'll have to convert these games into points.
``Playing well is not enough. We must be aware that the games are won in the penalty area.''
