Lyon v Stade de Reims: Preview

Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas is hoping his side can bounce back from their midweek Champions League disappointment with victory over Reims.

The Ligue 1 leaders, who are unbeaten so far in the league, suffered a 2-0 defeat to Real Sociedad in Wednesday night's play-off first-leg encounter, with their misery further compounded when Milan Bisevac was sent off 15 minutes from time for a second bookable offence.

Remi Garde's side have recorded victories over Nice and Sochaux in their opening two Ligue 1 games and need to keep up the good work as Monaco, Marseille and St Etienne are hot on their heels - all pushing for the top spot with six points ahead of this weekend's third round.

Aulas told the club's official website: ``We came across a very good team, more sharp than previously thought. It was at half-time that the game went wrong here.

``We need to return to work on Saturday against Stade de Reims.''

Reims are just three points further back in seventh after losing to Rennes on the first day of the season, but they hope to build on Saturday's 2-1 win over Lille with a positive result against the league leaders.

Coach Hubert Fournier has named Grzegorz Krychowiak in his 18-man squad despite the midfielder suffering a nose injury during training on Thursday.

Fournier knows it will be a tough match against Lyon, but he feels his side are in a better place than they were this time last season.

He told www.stade-de-reims.com: ``We have in front of us a Lyon team that will have the desire to catch up after losing at home in the Champions League this week against Real Sociedad.

``For our part, our early season is encouraging. We are ahead of last season in terms of content.

``Mathematically, we are also ahead because we lost the first two games last year.''

Defender Anthony Weber, meanwhile, says the last meeting between the two clubs - which Lyon won 3-0 - is forgotten as Reims go into the match with confidence.

He added: ``That game is in the past for us. We started quite well this season.

``Even at Rennes, where we did not take any points, we put in a good performance I think.

``Also against Lille, against whom we defended well.

``Now we approach this game against Lyon with confidence. We worked well this week. I think we have a role to play there.''
