Paris St Germain coach Laurent Blanc claims his side deserve to head into the winter break top of the league.
The capital club will start 2014 top of the pile regardless of their result against title rivals Lille on Sunday.
Monaco's shock home defeat to Valenciennes on Friday night ensured PSG would go into the Lille game with a two-point lead at the top, with the visitors two further back.
``It would be a good thing to occupy first place on Sunday evening,'' Blanc said.
``We have tried to take as many points as possible and have been in the lead for much of this season. This title (of autumn champions) is deserved, even if the most important thing is to be in first place after the 38th matchday.''
PSG have lost just one of their 18 games in the league so far this term, but Blanc knows Lille will prove tough opponents.
Lille have conceded only three goals in their last 14 games in all competitions, albeit two in their last two games.
``Lille are one of the best teams in the league,'' said Blanc. ``They won many matches 1-0 because they can rely on a goalkeeper (Vincent Enyeama) who has been huge so far.
``Like every team that comes to the Parc des Princes, Lille will try to put us in trouble.
``They are a tough team to play because they keep the ball. This is why they concede so few goals.''
PSG will be without full-back Maxwell, while striker Edinson Cavani is a doubt.
