Defensive headache for Bowyer

Blackburn caretaker manager Gary Bowyer faces a headache at the heart of defence ahead of the crucial npower Championship clash against Huddersfield.

Centre-back Grant Hanley collected a 10th booking of the season as Rovers ended a barren run of 10 league matches by beating Derby 2-0 on Saturday, and must begin a two-game ban

Gael Givet is carrying a knock which points the way towards a first appearance since the 3-2 home defeat to Peterborough on March 2 for Karim Rekik.

The on-loan Manchester City youngster was substituted at half time on that occasion, while his previous four games for Blackburn have come at left-back.

Colin Kazim-Richards suffered a similar fate to Hanley against the Rams to leave Bowyer short of an important option in attack, while midfielder David Bentley (knee) and full-backs Martin Olsson (ankle) and Bradley Orr (ribs) are set to remain on the sidelines.

Olsson's twin brother Markus (hamstring) could return to provide an option on the left flank, but Adam Henley (hamstring), Dickson Etuhu (knee) and Paul Robinson (back/pulmonary embolism) are long-term absentees.

Keith Southern and Jermaine Beckford could both return to Huddersfield's starting line-up at Blackburn.

Midfielder Southern (Achilles) returned to action for the first time in nearly two months in the weekend win at Wolves and is hoping to make his first start since New Year's Day.

Striker Beckford, on loan from Leicester, has started the last three games on the substitutes' bench, but struck a match-winning second-half double at Wolves after replacing Neil Danns in the second half and is pushing for a recall.

Winger Danny Ward (groin) and right-back Jack Hunt (hamstring) are expected to miss out again, but striker Lee Novak will return to contention after missing out at the weekend due to personal reasons.

Manager Mark Robins has no new injury or suspension problems as his side bid to extend the two-point gap between themselves and the bottom three.
