Bayer Leverkusen v Hannover 96: Preview

Hannover boss Mirko Slomka insists his side are focused on ending the Bundesliga season as well as possible, even if their hopes of qualifying for Europe are all but over.

They travel to face Bayer Leverkusen tomorrow to play a side already assured of their place in next season's Champions League and Slomka wants to complete the double over them after a 3-2 home win last December.

``Of course I hope we can play a really good game in Leverkusen and get something similar to the reverse fixture,'' Slomka said.

``We want to end as far up the table as we can. Preferably, we want to repeat our seventh-place finish from last season.''

A year ago that was enough for a place in the Europa League, but this year they would need Freiburg to lose their last two games and Hamburg and Borussia Monchengladbach to drop points too to make it a third season in Europe.

Instead, Slomka is already turning his attention to next year.

``If you end a season on a high, then that is important for your preparations for the new season,'' he added.

``It gives you more self-confidence for the first DFB-Pokal match and for the Bundesliga.''

Slomka is without strikers Didier Ya Konan and Mohamed Abdellaoue, but Felipe is back in training and Leon Andreasen is also an option from the start.

The future of Leverkusen's attacking midfielder Andre Schurrle continues to dominate the headlines in Leverkusen, while striker Stefan Kiessling has stressed his commitment to the club after turning down an approach from Fiorentina.

``I need to be happy where I am, and I'm happy here,'' he said. ``I'm not thinking about moving at all.''
