Stade Rennes v Evian Thonon Gaillard: Preview

Rennes coach Frederic Antonetti has demanded his team maintain their focus ahead of tomorrow's Ligue 1 clash with Evian.

The hosts come into the match off the back of four successive victories, with the latest a surprise 2-1 win at big spending Paris St Germain.

Their impressive recent run has seen them climb to seventh in the table just three points off leaders Lyon, and Antonetti is determined they show the same intensity against third-bottom Evian as they did at PSG.

``I expect to see more. It is useless to win in Paris if we ruin everything after,'' he said. ``The role of the coach is to work through the good and bad times.

``We should not be too down when there are problems and should not be euphoric when it works. We must find the right balance.

``We must be careful and pay attention to overconfidence. ''

They do however face an Evian side who have won just three of 13 league matches and will be without Yannick Sagbo and Saber Khelifa.

``We have to be focused on the game,'' Antonetti added. ``They are going to cause problems as they did last year.

``Evian won in Montpellier, Reims. They came back from two goals against Saint-Etienne. This is a dynamic team.''

Evian coach Pascal Dupraz was buoyed by the second-half comeback and is confident they can move out of the bottom three.

``I think our team is on the right track,'' he told reporters. ``In the second half last Saturday our players have regained confidence. I have this desire to be positive.

``Especially at the club, players, officials, there is a real positive mindset. We have 12 points and (this time) last year (we had) only one more.

``Do the math, you will see that we will get 43 points at the end. Our club have had five seasons in Ligue 1, we can say that we move forward.

``(A season) is full of ups and downs. All Ligue 1 clubs are experiencing difficult times. Valenciennes suffered last year, so they are now towards the top. Who would have thought they would do well this season?

``Everyone should consider that players have the desire to do well.''
