Bastia defender Sylvain Marchal admits his side must tighten up at the back ahead of tomorrow's Ligue 1 game at home to Toulouse.
Frederic Hantz's team have lost their last two league fixtures, with the 2-1 defeat at home to Lille particularly painful thanks to conceding two goals in the last five minutes.
And with the Corsican outfit just six points above the relegation places, Marchal knows he and his fellow defenders need to improve quickly with five games of the season remaining.
``It is clear that when there are goals, there are errors,'' Marchal told the club's website. ``We paid the price against Lille. We have been working hard since the beginning of the season and we will try to improve what was not good.
``We must become more rigorous and aggressive. We need to concede less goals and we hope that it will start on Saturday. We realise that our good performances were achieved when we concede few goals.''
Hantz admitted it was ``cruel'' to lose in such a fashion to Lille, adding: ``The end of the match was completely down to our being fatigued and that's the infuriating thing. But we're making progress.
``At the beginning of the season we were given a hiding by several sides. These days, we're giving them a run for their money.''
Toulouse also come into the game on the back of a defeat, a 1-0 home loss to Lorient which leaves them 11th in the table, eight points above Sochaux in 18th.
``It's tough to lose a match like that,'' said manager Alain Casanova, whose side conceded a 77th-minute goal. ``We have to recognise that we were average in the first half, we had trouble getting into the match.
``Unfortunately we made a mistake that cost us very dearly. We'll have to grin and bear it, close ranks and be united. We have to look behind us, we're still lacking one or two points.
``There are still points to take and difficult matches that await us. As long as we don't have the required number of points, we won't be able to play more freely.''
