Klinsmann's reliance on aging vets reveals lack of U.S. roster development

Jermaine Jones continues to be one of the most impactful players for the U.S. men's national team. On Tuesday, it was his absolute screamer from an accidental Clint Dempsey assist that gave the team a 2-0 lead over Costa Rica. Later in the match, his versatility was on display as he switched from a left-side midfield position in the team's 4-3-3 setup to a true central midfield role in a 4-4-2. Under Jurgen Klinsmann, Jones has played all over the field, including, briefly, an experimental stint in the middle of the defense. With his club team, the Colorado Rapids, Jones brings his unique interpretation to the creative role of the No. 10 position. Jermaine Jones is also 34 years old.
