Charge lose their fourth straight game
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Katie Barnes' goal in the 61st minute
lifted San Jose to a 2-1 comeback victory over Philadelphia on
Sunday in a game between the WUSA's worst teams.
It was only San Jose's second victory without captain Brandi
Chastain in the lineup. The 1999 World Cup hero missed Sunday's
game because of a left quadriceps strain.
The CyberRays (6-8-2) are seventh in the eight-team league,
seven standings points ahead of last-place Philadelphia (3-10-4).
The Charge, who have lost four straight, took the lead on
Melanie Hoffmann's goal in the fourth minute. But Katia tied it in
the 41st, and Barnes won it with a 10-yard shot.
There were 5,243 fans at the game, played in 91-degree heat.
