Hartlepool 2-2 Scunthorpe: FT Report
Substitute Kevin Henderson saved high-flying Hartlepool with an 89th-minute equaliser in the 2-2 draw with Scunthorpe.
Both sides set out to attack, and it was Scunthorpe who shook the home side with a goal against the run of play.
A corner was cleared to Scott Brough wide on the left and his overhead cross sailed over everybody and into the net at the far post after 25 minutes .
But Hartlepool battled back and drew level a minute before the break when Paul Smith's third corner in as many minutes crept in off Jamie McCombe for an own goal.
Martin Carruthers put the visitors back in front four minutes after the break in bizarre fashion when a clearance from Ritchie Humphreys struck him on the back and rebounded into the empty net.
That looked to be enough until Henderson's late volley saved a point with just one minute remaining.
