Wrexham 2-1 Torquay

Carlos Edwards' stunning strike secured a 2-1 win for Wrexham against Torquay - the Dragons' first victory on home soil since early November.

Wrexham's Dennis Lawrence hit the crossbar with an early volley but Torquay drew first blood in the 18th minute. Tony Bedeau seized onto a poor clearance, raced beyond the home defence and fired home into the far corner.

The home side's reply was swift as Hector Sam strode forward and set up Andy Morrell to sidefoot home his 19th goal of the season .

The Welshmen's winner came after 76 minutes when Edwards picked up a Stephen Thomas lay-off before burying the ball beyond visiting goalkeeper Kevin Dearden from 20 yards.

Wrexham had further chances to increase their lead but Morrell and Lee Jones both wasted gilt-edged chances.
