York 1-3 Scunthorpe: FT Report
Scunthorpe's lethal double act Steve Torpey and Martin Carruthers once again combined to help beat York 3-1 in an incident-packed clash.
The strikers took their tally for the campaign to 31 between them with confident finishes.
Torpey opened the scoring with a 14th-minute spot kick before City levelled against the run of play 12 minutes later when Darren Edmondson latched on to a poor clearance and fired home his second goal in as many games.
Carruthers continued his rich vein of form with a superb 37th-minute strike to restore the Iron's lead and United ensured their fifth successive win over York on 50 minutes when Lee Featherstone's deep cross was headed on by Torpey to Wayne Graves who swept home from close range.
The visitors were reduced to 10 men 13 minutes later when Featherstone was dismissed for a professional foul, but Scunthorpe held firm against considerable pressure to earn a deserved victory.
