Oxford Utd 3-0 Bournemouth: FT Report
Oxford maintained their bid for a place in the play-offs with a 3-0 home win over promotion-hopefuls Bournemouth - their biggest victory of the season at the Kassam Stadium.
Their task was made easier by a moment of madness from Marcus Browning. The Bournemouth midfielder was booked after 12 minutes for a foul on Jefferson Louis and dismissed a minute later for kicking the ball away at an Oxford free-kick.
Substitute Dean Whitehead put Oxford ahead after 30 minutes with the first shot on target by either side, but it was in the last 20 minutes that Oxford made the extra man tell.
Oxford increased the lead 16 minutes from the end when another substitute, David Oldfield, ran over a pass from Steve Basham to set up an opening for Roy Hunter, who notched his first goal of the season.
Three minutes later Oldfield completed the scoring from 20 yards to end Bournemouth's nine-match unbeaten run.
