Colchester 2-2 Tranmere: FT Report
Lowly Colchester salvaged a 2-2 draw at home to high-flying Tranmere thanks to a 69th minute Joey Keith penalty after Adrian Coote had been fouled by Tyrone Loran.
Tranmere looked set for their fourth successive away win until the spot-kick after skipper Mickey Mellon fired them 2-1 in front on the hour with a perfectly placed free-kick.
The first half had ended all square with Colchester taking the lead on 12 minutes when Scott McGliesh deflected home a header from Kemal Izzet following a Keith corner.
Rovers fought back to level on 38 minutes when leading scorer Simon Haworth scored with a splendid shot on the turn for his 14th goal of the season.
