Stockport 1-4 Bristol City: FT Report
Bristol City extended their unbeaten run to 19 games after demolishing struggling Stockport 4-1 at Edgeley Park.
Danny Wilson's side kept the pressure on Second Division leaders Wigan with a polished display against the Hatters, who clearly missed suspended player-boss Carlton Palmer.
The Robins hit the net three times before the break to effectively seal the game and leave Stockport hovering dangerously close to the drop zone.
Midfielder Lee Peacock opened the scoring for the visitors with a 25-yard thunderbolt in the 19th minute, which caught goalkeeper Brad Jones totally by surprise.
Defender Danny Coles hit the second after a deft flick from Liam Rosenior four minutes before the interval, and then Rosenior got in on the scoring act himself when he drilled home after a defensive mix-up between Jones and John Hardiker.
County's leading scorer Luke Beckett pulled one back when he latched onto a superb ball from winger Ali Gibb and fired past Steve Phillips for his 20th of the season in the 57th minute.
City substitute Peter Beadle slotted home a fourth a minute from time.
