Blackpool 3-1 Colchester: FT Report
Blackpool put themselves firmly back in the play-off chase with a comfortable 3-1 home win against a disappointing Colchester.
The home side opened the scoring after 34 minutes when striker Richard Walker netted his third of the season with a fierce diagonal shot into the back of the net.
The Seasiders dominated the half and scored a deserved second through defender Simon Grayson on the stroke of half-time.
Pat Baldwin was booked for hauling down Danny Coid and from the resulting free-kick Richie Wellens floated the ball to the far post for Grayson to slot home his second of the season.
Wellens also supplied the ball for the third as John Murphy headed his corner past Simon Brown at the far post.
Colchester fought back, moving Joey Key into a central role that paid dividends after 70 minutes when Kemal Izzet latched onto a loose ball in the area and fired past Phil Barnes, but it was no more than a consolation.
