Luton deservedly overcame promotion-chasing Cardiff with two goals in the last 10 minutes to cap an excellent performance in a 2-0 victory.
Tony Thorpe scored in the 80th minute from Dean Crowe's cross and leading scorer Steve Howard volleyed the second from a corner a minute from time.
The Hatters were full value for their victory, taking the game to Cardiff from the start, and Andy Legg twice had to clear off the line.
Bluebirds goalkeeper Neil Alexander needed to be in fine form, tipping over a Howard header in the first half and denying Crowe with a flying save early in the second half. He also saved from Ahmet Brkovic from close range.
Cardiff rarely threatened Luton's goal and when they did, Carl Emberson saved well from Peter Thorne and Graham Kavanagh.
