Wigan 1-0 Huddersfield: FT Report
Wigan consolidated their position at the top of the Second Division with a hard-earned 1-0 victory over a stubborn Huddersfield outfit at the JJB Stadium.
Canadian centre-half Jason De Vos powered in a header right on half-time to bring Wigan the points.
The home side had to work hard for their victory against the relegation-threatened Yorkshire side who made their defensive intentions clear right from the start.
The visitors had men behind the ball at every opportunity, although they might have sneaked a shock lead but for a fine save from Wigan goalkeeper John Filan to deny Kenny Irons.
Opposite number Scott Bevan, on loan from Southampton, produced a string of fine saves.
Huddersfield nearly nicked a late equaliser but Filan kept out Nat Brown`s header.
