Ryan Wallace and Craig Dargo netted as Dunfermline condemned East Stirling to their second knockout defeat in as many weeks with a 2-0 victory in the Scottish Communities League Cup.
After suffering a shock loss away at Formartine Town in the Scottish Challenge Cup first round last weekend, the Shire were unable to bounce back at Firs Park.
Midfielder Wallace, who netted 12 times last term, opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 10th minute.
Scott Maxwell tried to drag East Stirling back level, but wasted a header that flew over the top.
The hosts' hopes worsened on the hour mark as striker Kevin Turner was sent off for a second bookable offence and Dargo made sure of the win two minutes from time, firing into the bottom corner.
