Omar Kader's early goal set Forfar on the way to a 2-1 Ramsdens Cup win over 10-man East Fife.
After a quiet opening, the home side went in front midway through the first half when Kader latched on to Gavin Swankie's flicked header to slot home.
The lead was doubled after 30 minutes thanks to Stuart Malcolm's first-time finish after Martyn Fotheringham's inswinging free kick.
East Fife had not created much but got a lifeline when Darren Hill upended Liam Buchanan in the box. Buchanan dusted himself down and slotted home the penalty.
Their chances of grabbing an equaliser were dented 20 minutes from time when Gary Thom was shown a straight red card for an elbow, and only heroics from Michael Andrews prevented Forfar scoring again.
