Mexico 2-2 Nigeria

Mexico and Nigeria played out a 2-2 draw at the Reliant Stadium in Houston, with Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez scoring twice for Josi Manuel de la Torre's side.

Hernandez converted Pablo Barrera's cross before the winger saw red after he handled on the line. Ideye Brown tucked away the resulting spot kick before John Ogu put Nigeria ahead after 40 minutes. However Mexico fought back and Hernandez equalised after 70 minutes.

Mexico started strongly, and, after 21 minutes, Barrera found an unmarked Hernandez who from eight yards out directed the ball into the corner of the net.

Barrera's fortunes soon took a turn for the worse when he was shown a straight red card with Brown smashing his penalty into the bottom right hand corner past Jose de Jesus Corona.

Aldo De Nigris forced a decent save from Austin Ejide six minutes before the break and that stopped proved vital as Nigeria went straight up the other end and took the lead when Efe Ambrose's cross from the right was deflected home by Ogu.

Hernandez netted his second of the game with 20 minutes left, converting Carlos Salcido's cross from close range after once again evading his marker.
