Burns brace settles eight-goal thriller
Sean Burns' brace proved decisive as Queen's Park resisted Elgin's second-half fight back to earn a 5-3 victory at Borough Briggs.
Burns was on target to open the scoring with a low left-footed drive after 12 minutes before setting up Lawrence Shankland to tap in from close range as Gardner Speirs' men raced into an early two-goal lead.
Burns was again the creator after 32 minutes, teeing up Blair Spittal who made no mistake with a neat finish.
Michael Keenan swept home Anthony McParland's corner after the break before Burns notched his second with a fine long-range strike to give the Spiders a seemingly unassailable five-goal advantage.
Having lost four consecutive games, the Black and Whites seemed down and out when Paul Millar was on target with a left-footed finish to reduce the arrears.
But Craig Gunn's clinical strike from 12 yards and Brian Cameron's finish from the edge of the area in the final 10 minutes restored some pride for Ross Jack's side.
