Montrose's push for the play-offs looks over after they were beaten 2-1 by Queen's Park.
Martin Boyle tried to curl the ball into the corner after just five minutes but could not beat Queen's Park goalkeeper Blair Lochead.
Nine minutes later, it was Boyle again who found an opening but he dragged his effort wide.
And Montrose were punished on 43 minutes when Anthony McParland's corner found the head of Anthony Quinn to direct the ball into the bottom corner.
The equaliser came on the hour mark when Garry Wood's pass found Boyle who lashed it into the roof of the net.
But again Montrose were undone by a set-piece, this time McParland's corner finding Scott Gibson six yards out and he made no mistake.
Both sides were reduced to 10 men late on. Queens Park's Giuseppe Capuano was dismissed for a second booking before David Gray walked for violent conduct.
