Guillaume Gillet's double ensured Anderlecht maintain control of Europa League Group L with a 2-1 win over AEK Athens.
Ariel Jacobs' team will make sure of top spot if they avoid defeat at home to Lokomotiv Moscow in their final group match, on December 14.
Things looked good for the Belgians from the moment Gillet opened the scoring, in the fourth minute, when he tapped in from six yards after good work from Kanu.
AEK responded with an 11th-minute shot from by Roger Guerreiro, which failed to threaten Silvio Proto in the Anderlecht goal.
The hosts were level in the 19th minute, Dimitris Sialmas beating Proto with a low shot, after receiving the ball from Nathan Burns.
In the 23rd minute Milan Jovanovic brought an unconvincing save out of AEK goalkeeper Dimitrios Konstantopoulos, then the Purple and Whites' Marcin Wasilewski shot wide less than a minute later.
The away pressure continued and in the 29th minute Jovanovic's 18-yard shot required Konstantopoulos to parry.
It was little surprise when Anderlecht regained their lead, in the 35th minute. Berang Safari crossed from the left and Gillet headed home from close range.
Jovanovic and Matias Suarez shot over, before the latter brought a save out of Konstantopoulos, as the visitors finished the half on top.
After a quiet start to the second half, Jovanovic saw an 18-yard effort saved by Konstantopoulous in the 65th minute, before the home side threatened twice in as many minutes.
First, in the 66th minute, Sialmas shot wide, then substitute Leonardo saw his 12-yard effort tipped over the bar by Proto.
In the 69th minute Jovanovic threatened again, with his effort from the edge of the penalty area blocked by Konstantopoulos.
Gillet sensed a hat-trick in the 77th minute, but his shot from the edge of the box was just wide.
The hosts pushed for an equaliser but the closest they came were efforts from Leonardo and Sialmas, which Proto was equal to.
It was Anderlecht who came closest to a late breakthrough, with Tom de Sutter's 88th-minute shot from 18 yards striking a post.
