Metalist Kharkiv ran out worthy 3-1 winners over Malmo to put themselves firmly in control of Europa League qualifying Group G.
Taison scored two goals and set up a third for Fininho as the hosts opened up a four-point lead over AZ Alkmaar, who could only manage a draw against Austria Vienna.
Math Ranegie netted Malmo's reply but they remain rooted to the bottom of the group, without a point to their name and with no chance of reaching the last 32.
Metalist came into the match looking for a repeat of the 4-1 rout they inflicted on Malmo when the two teams met a fortnight ago in Sweden.
Juan Manuel Torres fired wide for the home side early on, but Malmo came back strongly with Daniel Larsson's 20-yard drive swept off the line by Marco Torsiglieri.
A free-kick soon followed from Wilton Figueiredo, which had to be punched clear by Metalist goalkeeper Vladimir Disljenkovic in what was proving to be an uncomfortable spell for the hosts.
But they soon began to assert their authority, with visiting goalkeeper Johan Dahlin having his palms warmed by an 18-yard drive from Brazilian midfielder Taison before Oleg Shelayev headed Cristian Villagra's cross past the left post.
Dahlin then pushed away a chance from the edge of the area by Marko Devic, while Taison fired wide of the target as Metalist looked to turn their pressure into goals.
And they were in front within a minute of the restart thanks to a lovely solo effort from Taison, who ran from the halfway line and weaved through the Malmo defence before planting the ball into the bottom right corner.
Taison then scored again after 56 minutes, curling a free-kick into the top right corner to put Metalist in the driving seat.
Malmo refused to let their heads drop and pulled a goal back after 66 minutes through Ranegie, who latched on to a pass from Ivo Pekalski before providing the finish from 18 yards with his left foot.
Metalist sought to regain their two-goal advantage and Torsiglieri tried his best with a shot from Taison's corner but Dahlin got down well to make the save.
Taison had a say in Metalist's third goal in the dying seconds, however, curling a cross into the box for Fininho to tap home from a few yards out.
