Feyenoord stayed among the Eredivisie's leading pack with a narrow win over FC Groningen thanks to Jordy Clasie's goal just before half-time.
It was a key result for Ronald Koeman's side after last weekend's defeat by PSV Eindhoven.
The hosts dominated proceedings and could have taken the lead in the eighth minute but Luciano did well to keep out John Guidetti's free-kick.
Clasie then narrowly missed the target before leading scorer Guidetti again tested Luciano with a header and Karim El Ahmadi steered a half-volley just wide.
The pressure finally told a minute before half-time, and Clasie took things into his own hands with a fine run into the penalty area before unleashing a clinical shot that gave the goalkeeper no chance.
Luciano keep Groningen in contention with a key save from El Ahmadi's effort nine minutes after the break and the visitors finally created a real chance of their own on the hour mark.
Leandro Bacuna tried his luck with a shot that appeared to have the keeper beaten but just missed the post, and seven minutes later he went even closer as his 15-yard effort smacked against the woodwork.
That was to prove Groningen's last chance, and they were reduced to 10 men two minutes from time when Johan Kappelhof was shown a second yellow card for a foul on the influential Clasie, with Guidetti seeing the resulting free-kick deflected just wide.
