ADO Den Haag moved seven points clear of the Eredivisie relegation zone with a 3-0 win over Groningen tonight.
Charlton Vicento opened the scoring on 38 minutes, Kenneth Omeruo doubled the advantage just before the hour mark and Ebi Smolarek completed a superb evening for the home side 11 minutes from time.
ADO attacked from the outset in such a vital fixture and Jens Toornstra had the first attempt on goal after five minutes, shooting wide after being set up by Tim Visser.
Christian Kum's long ball into the box was then turned over the bar by Vicento before the same player opened the scoring seven minutes before the interval.
Christian Supusepa supplied a cross from the left and Vicento climbed above his marker Tim Sparv and goalkeeper Luciano to head into the empty net.
Groningen finally came to life at the start of the second half, but were unable to produce anything of note despite forcing four corners in quick succession.
And ADO deservedly doubled their lead on 59 minutes when Tjaronn Chery's corner was headed home by Nigerian defender Omeruo.
The visitors never looked like getting back into the game and it was no surprise when a more positive home side added to their tally in the 79th minute.
Toornstra's cross from the right was headed back across goal by Vicento and found Smolarek reacting quicker to the ball than Luciano to slide the ball under the goalkeeper to seal a comprehensive win.
