Eredivisie leaders AZ Alkmaar are starting to feel the heat at the top of the table, with this goalless draw against NAC Breda drawing them back closer to the chasing pack.
With second-placed Ajax and third-placed PSV Eindhoven both winning handsomely today, a victory for Gertjan Verbeek's men would have sent out a warning that they are prepared for the fight.
And, although they remain top, a home draw against a side marooned in the middle of the table does not send out the strongest signal possible.
As a result, Ajax are now a point behind them and PSV just two, ahead of what promises to be a thrilling end to the season.
It was not for the want of trying, though, that AZ and indeed NAC did not break the deadlock.
AZ's Jozy Altidore drew a seventh-minute save from Jelle ten Rouwelaar, while Rasmus Elm also forced an impressive stop from the goalkeeper.
Aston Villa-bound Brett Holman then rapped a stinging drive into Ten Rouwelaar and Elm went close with a free-kick as they kept the pressure on.
NAC woke up after the break and Santi Kolk forced Esteban Alvarado into action, before the goalkeeper kept the leaders level when he used his legs to keep out Kolk.
Kolk was running the show for NAC and tested Alvarado again with 18 minutes left but, after that, little else occurred and the game fizzled out into a draw that does little for the home side.
