Roda JC missed out on the Europa League play-offs with defeat at home to FC Utrecht on the final day of the Eredivisie season.
Alexander Gerndt put the visitors in front on the stroke of half-time following poor goalkeeping from Mateusz Prus.
Yoshiaki Takagi doubled the away side's lead four minutes after the break and, even though Sanharib Malki pulled one back, Frank Demouge sealed a win for Utrecht late on.
Defeat meant Roda finished 10th, one place and one point ahead of their opponents.
Utrecht started well and Edouard Duplan headed just wide following a cross from Cedric van der Gun, who had to go off shortly after with a head injury.
Gerndt the had a shot saved by Prus as the visitors continued to threaten, while Adil Ramzi shot wide in a rare chance for Roda at the other end.
Prus was by far the busier keeper, though, and he did brilliantly to keep out Anouar Kali's effort which had been bound for the top corner.
But he was to blame for the opening goal in the last minute of the half as he let Gerndt's central shot from outside the area slip through his grasp and into the net.
Utrecht made it two early in the second half as Takagi finished a solo run into the area with a shot into the bottom corner.
Malki gave the hosts hope after an hour, turning in the area and firing home a low effort, and Roda almost levelled minutes later only for the ball to come back off the bar following a goalmouth scramble.
Malki went close with a header moments later as Roda finally began to apply some concerted pressure, but it did not last.
And Demouge put the result beyond doubt four minutes from time, cheekily chipping Prus when one-on-one with the keeper to end Roda's European hopes.
