Palmeiras took a step towards the Copa Sudamericana quarter-finals by winning 1-0 at Bolivia's Universitario in the first leg of their last-16 tie.
Marcos Assuncao scored the winner with a 26th-minute free-kick, but manager Luiz Felipe Scolari is taking nothing for granted.
"We are not qualified yet," Scolari said. "Universitario have quality and scored goals against big rivals such as Colo Colo and Cerro Porteno."
Palmeiras are currently ninth in the table in Brazil but have seen an upturn in form in recent games, winning three of their last four games.
Universitario have been in poor form in Bolivia but caused a shock when they eliminated Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno in the last round of the Copa Sudamericana.
