Marc Janko's second-half brace and goals by Andreas Ivanschitz and Zlatko Junuzovic earned Austria a win over 10-man Azerbaijan in their Euro 2012 qualifier at the Dalga Stadium in Baku.
In a clash between two teams who had no chance of reaching next year's finals even before kick-off, Austria picked up their third victory to move on to 11 points in Group A, four above defeated Azerbaijan.
The hosts were always up against it after losing defender Sasha Yunisoglu to a red card in the 27th minute following a foul on striker Janko, and they found themselves trailing seven minutes later when Ivanschitz netted the opener.
Janko doubled Austria's lead at the start of the second half and he then scored the third in the 61st minute before Vuqar Nadirov pulled back a consolation goal for Azerbaijan.
Junuzovic added Austria's fourth in the dying seconds to seal a convincing away win.
Austria started strongly when Janko's 25-yard shot flew over the bar in the seventh minute before Marko Arnautovic followed suit five minutes later from slightly closer range.
Yunisoglu then saw a straight red after a dangerous challenge on Janko, leaving the home side stretched in defence. Marko Arnautovic took the subsequent free-kick from 25 yards but he blasted his shot straight into the wall.
However, Ivanschitz opened the scoring not long after with a left-footed strike from the edge of the area after he latched onto David Alaba's pass from the left wing.
Janko added the second in the 51st minute when Ivanschitz fed him the ball from the centre of the area for the striker to fire home from 12 yards.
The FC Twente player scored his second 11 minutes later from a similar position, this time after linking up with Christian Fuchs.
Nadirov fired a consolation goal for the home side from 25 yards in the 74th minute before Junuzovic put the game totally out of reach with a 90th-minute strike.
