Relegated Willem II bowed out of the Eredivisie on a low note as Julian Jenner's late goal handed NAC Breda a 1-0 win at Koning Willem II Stadion.
The hosts had endured a miserable season that has yielded just three victories, and they were made to pay today for failing to take their chances as Breda's win handed the visitors a 13th-place finish.
With little at stake for either side, the first half proved to be a drab affair with very few chances being created.
Willem II had started well and they should have taken a 10th-minute lead as Andreas Lasnik's mazy run took him from the left wing into the box, but his shot was athletically tipped round the post by Breda goalkeeper Jelle ten Rouwelaar.
The only genuine effort on goal the visitors could muster was Jens Janse's off-target header from Joonas Kolkka's free-kick.
Thankfully the second half proved to be more entertaining fare, with Ten Rouwelaar again needing to make an outstanding save from Giovanni Gravenbeek's right-footed drive.
Nemanja Gudelj missed a presentable chance at the other end before Willem II's best chance fell to Bas van Loon.
The defender's shot was on target but, with Ten Rouwelaar beaten, the ball was cleared off the line by Kees Luyckx.
And the failure to convert their chances came back to haunt the bottom club with just two minutes to go as Jenner's bustling run saw him hammer a shot into the top right-hand corner of the net.
