Jamaica 1-0 Canada: Shelton goal wins match
KINGSTON, Jamaica, Jan 31 (Reuters) - Striker Luton Shelton scored in the 68th minute to give Jamaica a 1-0 friendly
victory over Canada at the National Stadium on Sunday.
Shelton, who plays for Valerenga in Norway, spurned several
earlier chances but decided the game when he raced onto a pass
from fellow forward Omar Cummings and hit a low shot past
goalkeeper David Monslave.
The 18,000 crowd was treated to a fast-paced opening to the
match, but the action slowed and both sides were guilty of
missing opportunities that came their way.
Neither team will feature at this year's World Cup finals
in South Africa having failed to make the second phase of
CONCACAF qualifying.
