Relegated Grenoble were denied only their fourth win of the Ligue 1 season as Sochaux grabbed a potentially vital point.
Grenoble striker Danijel Ljuboja had called for his side to play ``with honour'' despite having their fate confirmed last weekend.
And they certainly did that as goals from Ljuboja himself and Daisuke Matsui gave the home side a 2-1 lead after 62 minutes following Brown Ideye's early opener for Sochaux.
However, Sochaux grabbed an equaliser 17 minutes from time through Jeremie Brechet to leave themselves 10 points clear of the relegation zone with five games remaining.
Grenoble started brightly and Ljuboja had the first chance after 10 minutes but fired wide from the edge of the area.
Two minutes later Martial Robin released Nassim Akrour and he set up Laurent Courtois for a volley from 12 yards which flew inches over the bar.
A free-kick from Courtois then forced Matthieu Dreyer to punch away before Sochaux took the lead against the run of play.
Marvin Martin's free-kick found Ideye in the centre of the area and he fired past goalkeeper Jodi Viviani.
Grenoble's heads could have dropped but, to their credit, they hit back after the interval and were soon level.
Matsui freed Ljuboja with a good pass and the striker beat Brechet before firing a shot beyond Dreyer on 54 minutes.
Eight minutes later the home side went in front as Dreyer saved Akrour's header, only for the ball to fall for Matsui to slot home from close range.
They could not hang onto their lead for long however, Sochaux making it 2-2 after 73 minutes when Brechet turned in Benjamin Gavanon's free-kick at the near post.
