Brazil 2-1 Norway: Daniela, Marta see Brazil through
Brazil defeated Norway 2-1 in Tianjin's last Olympic game thanks to strikes from Daniela and Marta. The South Americans will now face either Germany or Sweden in the semifinals in Shanghai.
Late in the first half, Daniela took advantage of a giveaway in midfield and drove a 30-yard shot that beat Norway goalkeeper Erika Skarbo. Brazil's second goal came in the 57th minute after a mistake by the Norwegian defense. Marit Fiane Christensen underhit a backpass and Marta raced through to chip the ball over Skarbo for her second goal of the Olympics.
Noway was given a lifeline in the 81st minute when Brazilian goalkeeper Barbara raced off her line and brought down Elise Thorsnes in the area. Substitute Siri Nordby stepped up and coolly converted from the spot, but the Brazilians held on for the win.
