Saudi Arabia 2-0 Singapore: Winning start
RIYADH, Feb 6 (Reuters) - Four-time World Cup finalists
Saudi Arabia got their campaign for the 2010 showpiece off to a
positive start with a 2-0 win over Singapore on Wednesday.
Asian player of the year Yasser Al Qahtani put the Saudis
ahead in the 38th minute and Malek Al Hawsawi rounded off the
victory nine minutes before the end.
Saudi Arabia are the early Group Five pacesetters, with
Uzbekistan also on three points after beating Lebanon 1-0 in
Beirut.
Four countries from Asia will qualify for the 2010 finals in
South Africa, with the fifth-placed team entering into a playoff
with the top Oceania side for an additional berth.
