LA PAZ, June 18 (Reuters) - Bolivia ended Paraguay's unbeaten run in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers on Wednesday, beating the South American group leaders 4-2.
Striker Joaquin Botero scored twice to help Bolivia to their
first win in the group and move them off bottom spot.
Ronaldo Garcia and Marcelo Martins also scored on a
nightmare afternoon for Paraguay goalkeeper Aldo Bobadilla,
standing in for the injured Justo Villar.
Roque Santa Cruz and Nelson Haedo Valdez replied for
Paraguay, who beat Brazil 2-0 three days earlier but struggled
with the high altitude at 3,600 metres above sea level and a
Bolivia have four points from six games in the 10-team
group, one more than table-propping Peru, while Paraguay have
Bolivia went ahead in the 23rd minute when Botero latched
onto a long pass forward and beat the offside trap.
Although his first touch was poor and took him backwards, he
then managed to chip the ball over Bobadilla.
Garcia added the second two minutes later with a 30-metre
shot which bounced on a bump in the pitch in front of Bobadilla.
Santa Cruz headed one back for Paraguay in the 66th minute
but four minutes later Bobadilla failed to hold a harmless
40-metre shot from Ronald Gutierrez and Botero snapped up the
Martins scored Bolivia's fourth from a free kick in the 76th
minute and Valdez pulled another back for Paraguay seven minutes
