STRASBOURG, March 8 (Ligue 1) - Momar N'Diaye grabbed an 88th-minute winner as bottom side Metz continued their unlikely bid to avoid relegation at Strasbourg.
Strasbourg went ahead through a Pape Malick Diop own goal after 38 minutes but second half strikes from Babacar Gueye and Cedric Barbosa turned the match around.
Alvaro Dos Santos' equaliser from the spot with six minutes to go appeared to have salvaged a point for the hosts but N'Diaye popped up with the winner, just a minute after Metz had Eric Cubilier sent-off, to give Les Messins their second away win of the season.
After surviving some early Metz pressure, Strasbourg went ahead when Diop headed Rodrigo's free-kick into his own net.
Metz ought to have equalised five minutes later but Wilmer Aguirre volleyed wide from inside the six-yard box.
A leveller wasn't long in coming, though. After 56 minutes Cheikh Gueye crossed for Babacar Gueye and he slotted past Stephane Cassard.
Metz went ahead with 14 minutes remaining, N'Diaye picking out Barbosa and he fired past Cassard with his right foot.
Strasbourg dragged themselves level after 84 minutes when Metz keeper Christophe Marichez brought down Wason Renteria and Dos Santos calmly slotted home the spot-kick.
Metz's chances of snatching a late winner appeared to have evaporated when Cubilier picked up his second yellow card but the 10 men stole the three points courtesy of an N'Diaye effort with two minutes to go.
Metz are still 13 points adrift of safety despite the win while Strasbourg are now just four points above the bottom three.
